Employee and Contractor Safety Handbook
1. MANAGEMENT INVOLVEMENT AND COMMITMENT
1.1 Company Safety Policy
The personal health and safety of each Tiggo Transport Ltd. employee is of primary importance. The prevention of occupation-induced injuries and illnesses will take precedence over operational productivity where necessary. To the extent practical, management will provide all administrative, mechanical and physical facilities required for personal safety and health. We will strive towards compliance with the highest standards of the industry, as well as all pertinent government regulations. Tiggo Transport Ltd. will maintain a health and safety program conforming to the best practices of organizations of this type. This type of program starts with proper attitudes towards injury and illness prevention on the part of management and workers alike. Cooperation amongst all levels of management, contractors, workers and visitors must be practiced for this safety culture to succeed. The objective of this health and safety program is to keep accidents and injuries to an absolute minimum, and therefore, our goal is zero accidents and zero injuries.
Our health and safety program will involve:
• Providing effective administrative, mechanical and physical safeguards to the greatest extent
possible.
• Conducting a program of safety inspections to help us to identify and consequently eliminate or reduce unsafe working conditions and practices.
• Controlling health hazards and complying with health and safety standards on every job.
• Training all employees in acceptable health and safety practices.
• Providing necessary PPE and instruction for its proper use.
• Developing and enforcing health and safety rules as well as a requirement that all personnel comply with these rules as a condition of employment.
• Investigating every incident, accident, collision, injury, occupational illness and near miss promptly and thoroughly in order to determine the cause; and to correct the problem to prevent potential recurrence. We recognize that the responsibilities for health and safety are shared:
• The employer and manager(s) representing the employer accept responsibility for leadership of the health and safety program, monitoring its effectiveness, ensuring improvement where necessary and for providing the safeguards required to ensure safe conditions.
• Supervisors are responsible for developing the proper attitudes towards health and safety in those they supervise and for ensuring that all operations are performed with the utmost regard for the health and safety of all personnel involved. Supervisors are expected to demonstrate these principles and encourage participation and create awareness within the company.
• Employees and contractors are responsible for complying with all aspects of the health and safety program and for continually practicing safety while performing their duties.
